It’s Valentine’s Day this week, and here are my tips for showing those who you care about that you love them every day, and not just on 14th February!
Be kind. This may sound obvious, but sometimes familiarity means we forget the simplest act of showing kindness to those who are dearest to us. Being kind and thoughtful to those you care about will increase their self-esteem and make them feel special.
Think before you call, text or email
It’s easy to be business-like with your communications, because we’re all busy, right? But taking time to mentally compose what we want to say prior to contacting someone else can make all the difference in making a special connection or not.
Having fun with your partner, family or friends is a great way to connect. Shared experience helps build and strengthen bonds between people. Do things that you enjoy together, or share a joke or funny memory.
Being together is one of the most important ways we can show love to another person. And when you are there, ensure you really are there and get rid of as many distractions as possible.
Remember how much this person or people mean to you and think about how you can show them how much you care and how lucky you are to know them.
It’s the little things that count. Grand gestures are all well and good – and something that many people may be planning for Valentine’s Day – but I think it is the little touches and kind thoughts day to day that really count. As a rule of thumb, ask yourself if you would like to be treated as you treat others and use that as your guide for how to behave towards others.
