If you have never heard of personal coaching, or are unsure how it works, hopefully this post will make things clearer. Fundamentally, coaching is a conversation between the client and coach. It is a supportive space where you can talk in confidence. Coaching will help you to focus on what you want to achieve and where you want to go. The sessions are goal focussed and practical. They also gives you time out to concentrate on what you want: an opportunity to step back and reflect. You will leave the session with an action plan of next steps. Depending on what you have come to talk to the coach about, one session may be sufficient for you to find your focus, but often it is helpful to have multiple sessions.
Having a personal coach is like having your own personal cheerleader, who will encourage you to work out what it is you want to achieve, help you move past any obstacles and keep you on track. People are used to being coached in a work environment and think nothing of ensuring children have coaching for sports or other activities, so why not in our personal lives too? Give yourself the support and opportunity to make better choices and improve your life. I firmly believe that my clients know what will work for them and that coaching gives them the space and motivation to find the answers. Each session will be tailored to my client’s individual needs. As well as addressing practical steps, coaching will also give you new tools to change your mindset, help you to move forward, reduce anxiety, clear blocks and build resilience. Who do I work with? All my clients are unique, but here are a few of the recurring themes in my sessions:
Underpinning all of the above is building resilience to support you when life doesn’t go as planned. I think this is the most important issue that I deal with. Comments are closed.
