Maybe you want to make changes to your life, but you are not sure where to start. First of all, ask yourself where you want to be. Think big. What have you always wanted to do?
Allow yourself time to think about your big dreams. How could you make them reality? How would you feel if you did?
Define your goals
Spend time clarifying what you do want. It’s important. Once you have a clear sense of direction, you will know where to start and will be able to tell if you are moving in the right direction or not. Goals need to be measurable, otherwise how can you tell if you are achieving them or not!
Having clear goals allows you to define what your priorities are and identify what currently works or doesn’t.
Once you have an idea of where you would like to be in 6 months, or maybe 5 years’ time, start to work backwards. What do you need to have done to get you to your goal?
Thinking about making significant life changes can seem overwhelming. In this case, the best thing you can do is to break everything down into smaller chunks and concentrate on one thing at a time. Lots of small positive changes can make a huge change over time.
Is this helpful?
Ask yourself, ‘Is this helpful?’. Every choice you make, from the smallest such as what to eat for breakfast, to larger choices like whether to leave your job or not, will either be helpful or not to move you closer to your goals. It really can me that simple to do the things that are helpful and stop doing the things that aren’t.
Check in with yourself regularly
How’s it going? Are you making progress? If not, what’s getting in the way? What could you be doing differently to move you closer to your goals?
Celebrate your successes
Remember to congratulate yourself on the achievements you have made. Don’t just worry about what you haven’t.
